Sergio Dondoli and his eponymous artisan store are world-famous for award-winning ice cream, made from the freshest raw materials sourced just a few miles from the workshop, with that creative touch that only Sergio knows how to give.
Genuineness, flair and passion are the secret ingredients that have made Dondoli's ice cream an excellence, blended with the beauty, history and tradition that pervade the place where the store is located, the central Cistern Square.
An ancient art that of ice cream, it has its roots in theRenaissance era delighting noble palates of San Gimignano and beyond, reaching as far as the Medici court to be exported in 1533 even to Paris. A product with strong ties to history but above all to the territory; it is the relationship that master ice cream maker Sergio has with his homeland-he was born a handful of kilometers from San Gimignano-that makes his ice cream unique.
The products chosen for his masterpiece of taste and creativity come from as many local excellences, raw milk and organic fruits are used, for example, and biodistricts, such as that of Vernaccia wine and saffron production. A little imagination and daring and respectively delicacies such as Vernaccia Sorbet and Santa Fina Cream, a saffron and pine nut cream, are born.
An exceptional historical setting, Sergio's craftsmanship and authentic local products have been causing gluttons from all over the world to form very long lines in front of the store since 1992, waiting for their turn at freshness and goodness.
