Archaeological Museum
Dive into the past at the San Gimignano Archaeological Museum where it is possible to relive the history of the city thanks to the precious relics preserved inside the building. Located in the former Santa Chiara Conservatory, the museum is an integral part of the San Gimignano Civic Museums circuit. The collection displayed in the museum traces the ancient history of San Gimignano from the Archaic Etruscan period to the 17th century, dividing the exhibition into two parts. The first part allows a journey into the Etruscan-Roman period of San Gimignano, displaying finds from the ancient settlements and necropolis dating from the seventh to the first century AD and from the localities bordering the city, such as Cellole, La Ripa, and Pugiano. The second part is reserved for handicraft production activities, especially glassmaking and ceramics, related to the city's medieval period.
