Campatelli Tower and House

Where time stands still in the San Gimignano of the 1800s.

There is a place where it is possible to re-enact and relive one of San Gimignano's golden eras. Torre and Casa Campatelli offer a truly special experience full of curiosities to learn about an aspect of Tuscan middle-class life in the late 1800s. The 18th-century palace, with its 28-meter tower, is located on Via San Giovanni, right in the heart of the town. Erected in the mid-12th century and owned by the Campatelli family, prominent Florentine businessmen and landowners who made it their home, it is the only tower to have preserved the original volume of its construction. It is a precious treasure that to this day is presented in its original appearance and unchanged atmosphere thanks to the last owner of the tower-house. Lydia Campatelli preserved this historical jewel and in 2005 donated to FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) Torre and Casa Campatelli on the condition that it would be open to the public, so that everyone could relive the magic of a slice of family life. In the first part of the tour experience, visitors can watch an immersive film entitled "A Thousand Years in San Gimignano." On the main floor, it is possible to take a real plunge into the daily life of the noble family, through letters, photo albums and precious objects.

City of the world, heritage of humanity. Where to breathe in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and immerse yourself in the magnificent Tuscan countryside under the banner of a beautiful and sustainable lifestyle.
